Johnsons was founded in 1871 in Cheshire by the Johnsons family. The company's fleet of horse and carts delivered coal in the winter and moved Cheshire homes in the summer. Over the years the company became best known for high levels of service delivery, and this reputation still remains today. Over the years, Johnsons have expanded throughout the country through the acquisition of other removal companies and through opening new sites to best serve its growing list of national contracts and regional clients.

1995 - Business Moves

Johnsons launched its first non-domestic moving brand Johnsons Business Moves. The brand was born out of a number of years of success in delivering office removals for clients who had experienced our home removals service, requesting we also supported them in their business moves.

Johnsons Business Moves now boasts more than 20 years experience and an impressive list of blue-chip companies as clients. In addition to Office Moves we have diversified into a number of specific sectors to offer specialist removal services to the Education Sector, Laboratories, Public Sector and Libraries. We also specialise in IT Relocations.

2005 - Johnsons Asset Recycling

In 2003 the business invested resource to develop a furniture recycling solution that could be delivered in-house, moving away from the traditional outsourced option being used by many other companies at the time. Two years later Johnsons launched JohnsonsZero, a cost effective, zero landfill solution. JohnsonsZero soon gained recognition in the market, winning a number of large furniture recycling projects across the UK.

In 2017, Johnsons changed the name of JohnsonsZero to Johnsons Asset Recycling, to reflect the diversification of the brand and the recycling markets we now operate in.

2009 - Johnsons Project Management

On the back of years of successful awards and delivered projects, Johnsons introduced its fourth brand in 2009 called Johnsons Projects. This division of Johnsons allowed the company to demonstrate the businesses focus on move design and delivery. Employing a dedicated team of experienced Project Managers, Johnsons Projects has continued to grow year on year, delivering high profile projects across the UK and Europe, from workplace studies and office move management projects, to complex laboratory and specialist lifting projects.

2015 - Johnsons Laboratory Logistics

Johnsons Laboratory Logistics was launched in 2015, to further define the company's expertise in global Laboratory relocation and logistical projects. Johnsons Laboratory Logistics brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to customers who require high value / high risk projects to be completed.

Our in-house team comprises of: ADR drivers; Dangerous Goods Advisors and a team of qualified COSHH packers.

2017 - Storple

Johnsons launched its first non-Johnsons brand in 2017, entering the self-storage market with Storple. This new brand mixes storage with Johnsons own blend of simple service delivery.
